Malaga lies right in the heart of the Costa del Sol in Andalusia. The sea and the surrounding mountains ensures that Malaga boasts one of the most benevolent climates in all of Europe, with an  average annual temperature ranging between a maximum of 22.8ºC and a minimum of 13ºC.

12th Edition of the MALAGA SPANISH FILM FESTIVAL organised by the Malaga City Council with the support of the Spanish Federation of Audiovisual Producers (FAPAE) and Official Institutions: Spanish Foreing Trade Institute (ICEX), Spanish Film Institute (ICAA) and important television channels, ANTENA 3 and Canal Sur, was held from April 17th to 25th 2009.

The Festival’s main objetives are promotion and distribution of Spanish feature films and documentaries produced in Spain and / or Latin America or dealing with Spanish or Latin American topics; by boosting business meetings and economic ties amongst the different professional sectors involved.

In order to support international distribution of SPANISH and LATIN AMERICAN AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTIONS, the Festival has created three international markets (MALAGA SCREENINGS, MERCADOC and TV MARKET) grouped under the common name MALAGA MARKETS, which in 2009 will be held jointly again on the 25th, 26th and 27th October in Silken Puerta Málaga Hotel.

9º MALAGA SCREENINGS SPANISH AND LATIN AMERICAN FILM MARKET

Devoted to Spanish and Latin American feature films, including co-productions and Latin American feature films distributed by Spanish sales agents and movies participating in the “Latin American Territoriy” section of the Malaga Spanish Film Festival 2009.

MALAGA SCREENINGS will present a large selection of the most recent Spanish and Latin American  films, including co-productions; in particular those produced during 2008- 2009. All of them will be also available at the video library for screening in individual video booths, where Spanish company libraries will also be available.

9º MERCADOC EUROPEAN AND LATIN AMERICAN FILM MARKET

Market specialised in documentaries produced in Spain, Latin America or dealing with Spanish or Latin American topics.

MERCADOC includes documentaries of all genres, length and subjects, produced in Spain or Latin American countries, as well as others produced anywhere in the world dealing with Spanish or Latin American topics.

MERCADOC organises also a Projects Bourse.

5º TV MARKET SPANISH FICTION AND ANIMATION PRODUCTIONS FOR TELEVISION MARKET

TV MARKET supports the commersialisation of Spanish audio-visual fiction and animation products intended for televisión: series, miniseries, feature Films, TV movies, soap operas, cartoons, formats, etc.

3 AUDIOVISUAL MARKETS AT THE SAME PLACE AND TIME

MALAGA MARKETS will bring together, in a single meeting point, more than 500 participants, including audiovisual companies and professionals, from over 40 countries (producers, distributors, sales agents, televisions channels, commissioning editors and acquisitions managers).
